Botox Treatment in Brockville
Treat fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother, younger looking appearance
What is a Botox® Cosmetic procedure?
A Botox® procedure refers to an injection of a small dose of Botox® Cosmetic into carefully selected muscles. Botox® Cosmetic, a prescription drug approved by the FDA and the Health Protection Branch in Canada, should only be injected by a licensed and qualified physician. Dr. Steyn is both and has been injecting Botox® Cosmetic since 2008.
Before injecting Botox® Cosmetic Dr Steyn will carefully study your facial expressions to learn how your muscles move. She will then select the muscles that need to be injected and determine the optimum dosage required to relax the muscles. There is no need to numb the area prior to injection. A fine needle is used during the procedure to minimize discomfort and maximize accuracy. Most patients find the discomfort minimal and brief and describe the injection as similar to a little pinch
We know our patients value easy access to Botox® treatments. Our office makes every effort to accommodate Botox® Cosmetic treatments on the same or next day of phoning for an appointment.
How does Botox® Cosmetic work?
Wrinkles and fine lines are created by routine or excessive muscle contraction. By blocking the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract, wrinkles and fine lines are relaxed and become less noticeable and can even disappear. Once the results of a Botox procedure begin to fade, retreatment can further reduce the appearance of wrinkles. With each treatment, wrinkles appear less severe as the muscles are trained to remain relaxed.
Are the results Immediate?
The results are not immediate. After Botox® injections the weakening of muscle contraction starts gradually over the next few days. The full cosmetic benefits are typically experienced 14 days after the treatment. Results last on average 4 months before fading. Dr.Steyn recommends that the initial treatments be done every 3-4 months for the initial 3 treatments, and thereafter only when movement of the injected muscles return. The results of any Botox treatment can vary from patient to patient, however most patients find the procedure quick, simple, and a great alternative to more complicated surgical procedures.
Will I look "done" or unnatural?
As only carefully selected muscles are injected and relaxed, other elements of facial expression are not affected, ensuring a natural, relaxed and refreshed appearance. The goal is to enhance, not change your look. No one except you will know, and you will simply be told that you look rested and relaxed! What a great compliment!
